Ingredients
- 1 kg. spaghetti noodles
- ½ kg. Lean ground beef
- ½ kg. Lean ground pork
- ¼ kg. hotdogs, sliced
- ½ kg. tomato sauce
- ½ cup Banana Ketchup
- 3 pieces laurel leaves (bay leaves)
- ¼ cup brown or white sugar
- 3 green bell peppers, finely chopped
- 3 onions, finely chopped
- 1 bulb garlic, minced
- 3 tablespoons of cooking oil
- 1 cup of water
- Salt and pepper to taste
- ½ cup grated cheese ( I like a combination of
- cheddar and mozzarella)
Method
- Cook spaghetti according to package instructions. Set aside.
- In a deep pan, heat the oil and sauté onions and garlic until onion is clear, releasing the aromatics.
- In the same pan, pour in water and toss in all your meat (except the hotdogs), the bell pepper and laurel leaves.
- Leave until it is boiling.. Lower the heat and simmer for 8-10 minutes.
- Mix into it your banana ketchup (it won’t be pinoy without the sweet banana ketchup ) and tomato sauce, add salt and pepper to your preference (taste as you go) then allow to simmer for another 8-10 minutes.
- Toss in the hotdog. Allowing the sauce with all the ingredients to simmer for 3-5 minutes.
- If your pot is big enough to accomodate the spaghetti, mix in your noodles and make sure sauce is evenly spread.
- Transfer to a serving dish, and add cheese evenly on top.
- If you are feeling a little more extra – go ahead and put this dish in the oven in an oven-safe dish and allow the cheese to melt to turn this dish into bakes spag. YUMMMERS
